Originally I booked for only 1 night... Then I ended up staying for 3 months This really is a place that makes you feel like you are staying with family. Antono and Nora are extremely special people. The location is only a 1 minute walk from the lagoon. The food is delicious and cheap! Their son Sevas cooks a MASSIVE tradition meal of conchinita pibil on Sundays, so if you happen to be staying on the weekend, you are in for an extra special treat! And they sometimes have exercise classes in the evenings with the neighbors which you are welcome to join if you like. They can arrange many tour activities like kayak trips to Belize, or floating through Los Rapidos, or bicycling through calderitas to the pyramids in Oxtankah for a very good price as well. AMAZING sunrises from the balcony of the rooms, and sunsets just on the other side of the lagoon. If you want an authentic 'mexican family' experience, this is where you will find it.

A Hidden Gem in Xul-Ha! La Postada Yaxche is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I’ve stayed near Bacalar. It’s a lovely homestay run by a warm, welcoming family who truly make you feel at home. The rooms are spotless and open up to an incredible view of the Bacalar Lagoon — waking up to that view is pure magic. They have a great kitchen and even an outdoor kitchen you can use, and if you prefer, they can also cook delicious home-style meals for you. The atmosphere is calm, natural, and filled with positive energy — perfect for anyone looking to relax and connect with nature. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bacalar or Xul-Ha. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and grateful you discovered this hidden paradise.

Beautiful place! Super clean and comfortable bed. We got a flat tire and the owner Antonio helped up change it and even got a local friend to repair it after hours on a Sunday. And the breakfast was amazing! A truly wonderful experience. Highly recommend staying here!

A great place to stay while visiting the beautiful crystal clear waters of the near by lake. The owners are just lovely and helpful hosts. They will make you feel like at home. The rooms are decorated above the Mexican standards, you can really tell they wanted to make it look special and the beds are very comfortable. Brian who lives there was excellent in helping us create a good itinerary for the days we were going to spend there. So helpful! Definitely would stay here again.

Absolutely gorgeous view from the balcony! The laguna is crystal blue with great water for swimming. The hotel feels like home, with very welcoming owners and cute rooms. Territory around is very beautiful Everything was sparkling clean, new and in good condition. You can also use shared kitchen space with unlimited tea, coffee and some fruits right from their garden. I was able to use their kitchen to cook breakfast and smoothies. They have everything needed there! The owner, Antonio, speaks English perfectly, so you ask him anything about the places to eat, local things to see and just chat about life in Mexico :) We spent two days there and can absolutely recommendation this place! Btw, the village Xul Hu itself is much better than overpriced and boring Bacalar

If you want a genuine experience of the area, with a hotel-ish feel then come here. It’s clean and cozy. The host is a super host.
